In Denmark we have successfully gathered a group of committed counsellors from VET schools, whom we have met a couple of times during the autumn.

We started off by hosting our PR1 workshop in August at IBC (International Business College) in Kolding. Here we met with six counsellors from six different schools both in Jutland and Zealand. We introduced the project, after which we discussed best practices and challenges that the six counsellors face in their schools. We quickly tore ourselves away from our questions as it was obvious that the counsellors had a lot on their minds. Besides discussing different challenges, the counsellors clearly got inspired by each other’s practices and some of them even shared contact details afterwards. We were happy when we walked out from that first workshop. Not only did we receive a lot of knowledge from the counsellors, but we also started up a collaboration between counsellors from different schools in VET.

We held the second part of our PR1 workshop online in October. Only three counsellors attended the meeting, two of them had also attended the first meeting. Despite the low number of participants, we used all the time given and instead of the more superficial discussion we had at the first meeting we got the opportunity to dig deep into the discussion this time.

Overall, the PR1 gave us a lot of insights in the counselling practices in VET in Denmark and a chance to discuss, criticize and inspire across counsellors and researchers in the field.
